Sam Billman
ACTOR/SINGER/DANCER
Hi there!
I’m Sam - Nice to meet ya, and thanks for stopping by!
At the age of five in 2007, my family took me to see the national tour of The Lion King, my very first musical. As soon as the lights dimmed, I was immediately drawn to the stage, spending the rest of the show on my feet, clutching the mezzanine railing in front of me in awe. For the past 18 years, I’ve been chasing that feeling.
Hailing from Marquette in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (the other hand), I’m a proud Yooper and am now based in NYC! I recently graduated magna cum laude with my BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in Strategic Communications from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana (chirp chirp!)
My work has taken me all over the country, from theme parks to Sondheim on the beach. Some of my favorite credits include opening for Norbert Leo Butz at the Indianapolis Cabaret, the short film Cliché, which premiered at the 2024 Indy Shorts International Film Festival as part of Radiance Cinema, and my most recent adventure as Prince Hans of the Southern Isles in Frozen at the Duluth Playhouse.
Outside of performing, I’m an American Council on Exercise–certified fitness instructor and love all things outdoors. I live for hiking, cross-country skiing, trail running, and swimming in any body of water I can find. I also love cooking vegetarian delicacies, 35mm film photography, anything in the color blue, and every style of music under the sun. As a young, queer storyteller, I aspire to bring the emotions I first felt all those years ago to audiences through my art—and to inspire little Midwestern queer kids like I once was (and still am at heart). I hope to make my family and my five-year-old self proud.
I’m about to make my 54 Below debut next week! Stay tuned for clips, and be sure to check out other performances on the “Media” tab above. More performance news coming soon!
